Driving Lesson Payment Guide | STUART’S Scotland
Starting driving lessons? Understand STUART’S payment arrangements, advance-payment requirements and how to confirm your lesson costs before booking.
Understand Your Driving Lesson Payments Before Booking
When planning to learn to drive, it is helpful to understand not only the cost of your lessons but also when and how payment is required.
Knowing the payment arrangements before your first lesson can help you budget properly, avoid confusion and make sure you are ready for your booking.
Check Your Lesson Rate First
STUART’S Driving School uses postcode-based pricing, with different rates for manual and automatic lessons in some areas. Your total cost will depend on the applicable postcode rate and the duration of the lesson.
Standard lessons are two hours long. Before booking, confirm the rate for your area and whether any additional charges may apply to your chosen time.
Some instructors may apply an additional £5 per hour for late-evening or weekend lessons. Confirm whether this applies to your booking before arranging your session.
Which Payment Methods Does STUART’S Prefer?
According to the current STUART’S pricing information, payment is preferred through the Total Drive app or by bank transfer.
Cash payments are also accepted under the stated payment arrangements. Before your first lesson, ask your instructor which method you will use and confirm the details needed to complete payment.
Understand Advance-Payment Requirements
STUART’S pricing information states that payment may be required seven days in advance.
Specific arrangements also apply to cash payments. Where cash is paid in the car, the first lesson payment is required seven days in advance. The stated arrangement then requires payment for the next lesson at the first lesson, payment for the following lesson at the second lesson, and so on.
Make sure you understand the payment schedule that applies to your booking. If you are unsure about a payment deadline, confirm it directly with your instructor before your lesson.
Are Block-Booking Discounts Available?
Some learners prefer to book lessons in blocks to help organise their schedule. Under STUART’S current pricing information, block-booking discounts are at the instructor’s discretion.
This means you should not assume a discount will automatically apply. Ask your instructor whether a block-booking option is available and confirm the price before making a payment.
Plan Your Driving Budget
Before starting lessons, consider how often you expect to book, the price for your postcode and whether you may need additional sessions for specific practice.
It is also worth checking the cancellation policy. STUART’S states that cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice are charged at the current full lesson price, although instructors may use discretion in extenuating circumstances.
Understanding these terms in advance can help you manage your budget more effectively.
