Changing Driving Lesson Pick-Up Locations | Scotland
Need driving lessons from work, college or another address? Learn why pick-up arrangements should be agreed in advance with your instructor.
Can Your Driving Lesson Start From a Different Location?
Not every learner begins or finishes a driving lesson at home. Some learners may need to arrange collection or drop-off near their workplace, college or another suitable location.
If your routine changes during the week, it is important to discuss your arrangements with your instructor before booking. A clear agreement helps everyone understand where the lesson will begin and end.
Discuss Your Pick-Up Point Before Booking
When contacting a driving school, explain where you would ideally like to be collected and dropped off. Provide the relevant postcode and ask whether the location can be accommodated.
Do not assume that every address is available for collection. The arrangement depends on the instructor’s availability and agreement.
How Pick-Up Locations Affect STUART’S Lesson Rates
STUART’S Driving School uses postcode-based lesson pricing. The normal basis for the rate is the learner’s home postcode. However, with the instructor’s agreement, the rate may be based on an alternative pick-up or drop-off postcode, such as a school, college or workplace.
Before confirming your lesson, check which postcode will be used to calculate your rate. This is particularly important if your preferred collection point is in a different pricing area from your home.
Why You Should Arrange Changes in Advance
Driving instructors plan their schedules around learners’ bookings and locations. A last-minute change may affect the instructor’s ability to reach the new address and attend other scheduled lessons.
STUART’S pricing information states that changes to pick-up or drop-off locations must be agreed well in advance. Instructors may not be able to accommodate significant location changes on the day.
If your normal routine changes, contact your instructor as early as possible to discuss the proposed arrangement.
What Should You Confirm?
Before your first lesson or any change to your usual location, confirm:
- The agreed pick-up address and postcode.
- The agreed drop-off location, if different.
- The lesson rate that applies to the agreed arrangement.
- Whether the instructor can accommodate the requested times.
- How much notice is needed if the arrangement changes.
Plan Your Lessons Around Your Routine
Planning your pick-up and drop-off arrangements in advance can make it easier to fit driving lessons around work, study and other commitments.
